I finished my 29U yesterday, but had to have refinements, that little bugger of a front tooth doesn't want to move! I guess it not fitting very well over my canine really did make a difference.
My ortho gave me the impression he believed it to be my fault from being non-compliant. I decided to forgive this act of rudeness after he told me its fine to drink wine with them in.
Had my impressions dones yesterday and.......my wire bonded lower retainer broke. Oh yeah, forgot to say I actually have a lower bonded retainer. I must say, having a bonded retainer isn't at all bad. You play with it all the time with your tongue but at least they are being held in place all the time. Its a shame that you only have 6 retained as there is still movement going on in the back teeth.
So, after my impressions broke my bonded retainer, the ortho just 'glued' my teeth together. Unpleasant, feels strange, not sure why I paid £225 for a wire and then get my teeth glued.
My refinements should arrive in 3 weeks, after pressing the ortho on an amount he reckons 8-10!!! Then I have to wear the last retainer for three months before having an upper bonded retainer.
Right, i'm off to drink a bottle of wine.
Take care my plastic mouthed comrades.

11.05.09 Are you kidding!
As I was leaving I happened to mention 'can you see if anything is happening yet' Oh of course its not bloody happening, its the 'complex curse'. Apparently because I didnt' want an extraction they have to broaden my arch (sounds painful) to make room. I won't notice any difference until tray 8.
Firsty, 'broaden my arch' does this mean i'm going to have a mouth like something out of Wallace and Grommit????????
Secondly, I get home, make myself a bit to eat take them off, and would you bloody know it, two attatchments came out. I swear, I might just pull all my teeth out by hand.
So, I've called my Ortho again (if my husband saw my phone records he'd think I was having an affair with him i'm sure) and I've got to wait another week to see him to get them glued on.

Day 3 with attatchments
Alarming first word to use granted, but ouch ouch ouch.
I have noticed that it is easing up a bit and its not taking half an hour with my whole hand in my mouth to get the alligners off. I don't think i'll be eating out for a while as the thought of doing it discreetly is beyond me.
With the aligners off its difficult to eat, I've found chewing slowly really helps. This is what it must feel to have your jaw broken (yes i'm a drama queen). On the plus side it really helps with compliance as you definately want to put them back on again as soon as you've finished eating. They're uncomfortable and unsightly.
I'd heard others talk of the 'invisalign diet' but I've not found i'm eating less at all, I just grab as much food as possible to shovel it all in my allotted half hour break. If anything i'm eating more as I don't want the hassle of taking them out again and going all OCD with the cleaning everytime.
I'm probably coming across quite negative about invisalign but I guess even though I look like i've more speed bumps in my mouth than outside the local school they're not as noticable as metal braces and its not the end of the world I can't relax with a latte and muffin in Starbucks (I say this now - its only been 4 weeks!).

Clinicheck video
Okay, so here are my clinicheck videos. I'll add more stuff soon.
A BIT ABOUT ME!
I'm currently on U3 of 29 and L3 of 21. I'm 34yrs old, from England and have crooked teeth since I was 15yrs old.
MY EXPERIENCE
The first four weeks had a couple of problems with the alligners ie cracking and tearing. No pain though and they were certainly invisable, although I told anyone and everyone I was wearing, lol.
05.05.09 Had my attatchments put on yesterday only to have three of them snap off when I took them off for a bite to eat and one of them snap on on a baked potatoe! They are sooooo hard to take off but i'm sure it'll get easier like the other ones did.
They do look horrid though, I kinda dont see the point of paying for invisalign if you're gonna have speed bumps on your teeth but hubby assures me they're not that bad (i'll put photos on soon).
Trying to stay positive that this treatment will work for me, those teeth sure do have a lot of moving to do.
